History of Deccan Odyssey
The lavish Deccan Odyssey Train made its maiden tour on January 17, 2004, set out in collaboration by MTDC or Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation and the Indian Railways after the success of Palace on Wheels, India’s first luxury train. The onboard services are managed by the famous Taj Group of Hotels.

There are six Deccan Odyssey Train Journeys that cover a large number of top Indian tourist destinations, depending on the tour selected by the guest. About The Train
The Deccan Odyssey is also known as India's Blue Luxury Train due to the exterior design of the train. There are 21 carriages and 11 are dedicated to accommodate the guest cabins including air conditioned Presidential Suites and Deluxe Cabins and equipped en-suite washrooms.
The luxury train also has a conference car, a health/beauty spa, a mini gym, a parlor, and a library to entertain the guests. Cabins are done up with wall-to-wall carpeting and vibrant decor, giving an ambiance of a palace. While the carriages have names of various ancient regions of Maharashtra, the interiors are also inspired by a region's culture and tradition. Keeping in mind guests' requirements of basic needs, the Facilities are provided in the king's comfort and impeccable hospitality onboard the Deccan Odyssey Train.

Facilities
The train offers all facilities, and guests can select the accommodation as per their requirements or budget. There is an intercom, channel music, a DVD player with six channels to keep guests entertained during travel. Guests can enjoy eating in the two laid-back onboard restaurants of the Deccan Odyssey. There are en-suite washrooms with running hot and cold water, toiletries, and towels etc.
The Train also has an onboard paramedic in case of emergency or medical requirements. Other facilities include laundry services, telephone calls, wheelchair access, and a menu for guests with special dietary requirements.
Note: Please note that a few services noted here are included only on select tours or require prior intimation to the train management while booking / boarding, and charges for some facilities noted here are excluded in the Deccan Odyssey Tariff.

Bar & Restaurant
There are two restaurants onboard called Peshwa I and Peshwa II that serve new dishes on the menu every day. It includes traditional, continental, Indian and oriental delicacies to guests who comfortably enjoy meals in a soothing ambiance. Staff who serve guests are cordial and dressed in traditional Maharashtra attire, reflecting the inspiration of tradition and culture.
Guests can unwind with their choice of Domestic or International selection in the bar that is stocked up with various liqueurs, whiskeys, beers, wines, spirits, Cognacs and even non-alcoholic beverages such as coffee.

The Deccan Odyssey has a dedicated area on the train to help fitness-conscious guests keep fit while on the week-long luxury tour. There is also a health spa facility that offers traditional Ayurveda Spas by trained staff onboard the Deccan Odyssey.
Each carriage has a dedicated butler to take care of guests and also guides during off-board sightseeing excursions. Staff are friendly, professional, and speak English. It is good to pack light and carry less baggage, even though there are porters to carry the luggage only at the points of embarkation and disembarkation the journey.
