Maharashtra Wild Trail

Mumbai - Ellora Caves - Aurangabad - Pench -Tadoba - Ajanta - Nashik - Mumbai

Deccan odyssey has introduced a unique trail which is the path that is less chosen by tourists. This Maharashtra Wild Trail takes you through Ellora and Ajanta caves, Aurangabad, Pench, Tadoba and Nashik. The tour starts and ends in Mumbai. The tour stretches for seven nights and eight days. This itinerary focuses more on the natural and historic attraction of the place.

Itinerary
Day 1

Mumbai

Welcome aboard the Deccan Odyssey.

The trip officially starts by 15:30 hours at Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus in Mumbai. The registration process starts immediately. After registration, the traditional welcome starts and you will be served with welcome drink. After, you are settled in your cabin, the train starts slowly from Mumbai towards Ellora caves. The rest of the day is free to explore the train.

Dinner is served on board.

Day 2

Aurangabad Ellora Caves

The train reaches Aurangabad by early morning. After breakfast, you will be taken on a road trip to Ellora caves where you can explore 34 rock cut shrines and enjoy the sculptures and temples.

Later, you will be taken to Daulatabad fort, Bibi-ka-Maqbara and the city's 52 gates for a sightseeing tour.

Spend time in leisure this morning. You can stay onboard and enjoy the facilities of the Deccan Odyssey or you can go for rejuvenating spa at a city hotel.

Lunch will be served on board the train. After lunch, proceed to explore the UNESCO World heritage site of Ellora caves and the most extraordinary part of the Ellora caves is perhaps, the Kailash temple. 

After the trip, you will be taken back to the train for rest and then proceed for dinner to enjoy the local cuisine. You will be taken back to the train by late evening.

Day 3

Aurangabad

On the third day of the trip, after a relaxed breakfast, you will be taken for sightseeing of Aurangabad. Begin your day by visiting Bibi-ka-Maqbara. It is the replica of the Taj Mahal in Agra, last resting place of Dilras Banu, Aurangzeb's wife. The monument was constructed by her son Prince Azam Shah, also called the "Taj of the Deccan".

Next, proceed to visit the weaving center that specialises in the weaving of Himroo fabric. It is associated with Aurangabad since the 14th century.

Later, return to the train and have your delicious lunch onboard the Deccan Odyssey. Take rest or you can choose the recreational activities onboard the train.

In the evening, enjoy the cocktail/mocktail at the train's lounge and then enjoy the delicious dinner.

The luxury train slowly moves towards Pench.

Day 4

Pench National Park

By early morning, the train reaches Pench National Park. Top animals to spot here are leopard, jungle cat, dhole, common palm civet, barking deer, wild pig, gaur, sambar, Nilgai and others. You will be taken on a exciting game drive to the Pench National Park after delicious breakfast on board.

By early afternoon, you will be taken back to the train for lunch and a brief rest. By late afternoon, you will be taken on a bird watching tour in the park to spot unique birds like green pigeon, grey-headed fishing eagle, osprey, waterfowl, hornbills and others. You can also find endangered vulture species here.

You will be taken back to the train by evening. Dinner will be served on board as the train moves towards Tadoba.

Day 5

Tadoba Tiger Reserve

The train will arrive at the Chandrapur station. You will be taken on an early morning safari to Tadoba Tiger Reserve, also known as the Land of Tigers. You can spot different animals like wild dogs, gaurs, wild pigs, ratels, sloth bear, leopard and others.

After morning game safari, you will be taken to Tiger Trails lodge for breakfast.

After breakfast, you will be shown a documentary about wildlife.

You will be taken back to the train after enjoying lunch at the lodge. The rest of the day is free.

You can explore and enjoy the amenities inside the train as the train moves towards Jalgaon.

Day 6

Jalgaon Ajanta Caves

The train halts at Jalgaon by early morning. After breakfast on board, you will be disembark to visit Ajanta caves, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You can explore 30 different ancient caves, rock cut temples, sculptures and art works here.

You will be taken back to the train for lunch. As you dine, the train leaves towards Nashik. Relax and enjoy activities onboard the train. Play carrom or watch a movie or just unwind at the rejuvenating spa onboard.

The rest of the day is free to enjoy inside the train. Dinner is served on board.

Day 7

Nashik

The train reaches Nashik by morning. After breakfast, you will be taken on a walking trip to ghats to witness unique rituals.

You will be taken on a market tour to Wednesday Market for souvenir shopping or sightseeing.

Later, you will be taken on a trip to Grover Zampa vineyards for touring the wine production facilities. Have a look at the special variety of grapes- Chenin, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. You can taste local made wines including white, red, rose and sparkling wines and enjoy a healthy lunch.

Later, you will be taken back to the train. The train proceed towards Mumbai and you can enjoy the amenities inside the train. Dinner is served on board.

Day 8

Mumbai

The train reaches Mumbai and halts. After breakfast, the checkout formalities start. You can choose to stay back in Mumbai or catch your departure flight.
