Pench is a large biodiversity national park that is home to nearly 300 species of resident and migratory birds and exotic wild animals. The Pench national park that is spread over two districts in the central state of Madhya Pradesh measure 292 sq. km of forest area.

You can spot porcupine, striped hyena, deer, sloth bear, jungle cat and also the leopard in one of the best national parks in the country. It houses four types of endangered species of vulture inside the premises that is a combination of grassy landscape and forest land.

Best Time to Visit Pench

Avoid visiting Pench National Park during monsoons. The park is closed from Mid -June to Mid -October. During winter months i.e. November to June the deer and the leopard as they come out more often. Good Luck to see them on your next trip.

1.Jungle Safari

If you want to go on a holiday trip with some excitement and thrill then the Jungle Safari is the best activity that will give you the thrill. 2. Bird Watching

There are many species of birds that migrate during winers that can be spotted during winters especially at the water tank area in Pench. The rare species include Pochards, Brahmini Duck, Bar Headed Geese and Coots. The four major kinds of vultures that you can find here are King Vulture, long billed, white scavenger and White rumped Vulture.

 

3. Night Drive & Night Safari

If you would like to spot the nocturnal mammals birds or animals then you can choose to go on the night safari or a night drive. The wild dogs, deer, hyena and exotic bird species are nonchalant during that time. So the best timings are from 6 pm to 9 pm. Even some flora is quite amazing at the end of the day. Plan well before hand as there are special safari resorts organized at the national park like Village Machaan.

4. Elephant Ride

Sit on the back of the elephant and enjoy the ride while in wildlife national park. You get to see the higher view of the prominent attractions and you can spot a wild cat even far away. Get to enjoy the better view on top of the exciting elephant ride.

5. Jungle Trek / Walk in the Jungle Park

Enjoy the biodiversity of the Park at its best while on the Jungle trek. There is nothing that can be more exciting than a walk through the dense jungles of Satpura where you can spot exotic flora. There are guides available. You should know the special zones with its specialties. However such jungle treks are organized with prior permission of the forest officials.

  • It is advisable to plan your wildlife trip with an expert. Take the help of a guide from the trip operator.
  • Elephant Safari gives you a better view from high up. There are better chances of spotting a tiger/ wild cat.
  • Network Coverage is weak and connectivity is poor in the jungles. Do not depend on phones/ mobiles especially for important stuff while on Jungle Safari.
  • Flashy clothes are a strict – NO. Wear dull colored soothing colors. Make sure you go for comfortable well fitting clothing.
  • Park your vehicles in the allotted parking area as private vehicles are not permitted within the gates of the national park.

How to Reach Pench National Park

By Air: The closest airport to Pench National Park is located at a distance of 93 km – the Nagpur Airport. There are private vehicles from and to the airport to the popular national park place.

By Rail: There are well connected trains to major cities like Nagpur and Pune from Seoni Railway Station very close to Pench at a distance of 30 km.

By Road: The district Seoni has a main bus stop near the Seoni Railway Station with buses plying to nearby cities. There are private vehicles and state run buses from Seoni Bus Stop to Pench.
