Short Trip to Varanasi in Three Days

This is a Varanasi itinerary that covers the city in just three days. Varanasi is called the spiritual capital of the country. It is the land of the river Ganges, one of the oldest cities in the world that is still inhabited, and also an important pilgrimage spot for Hindus.

Every day, more than 60,000 people dip in the river Ganges for a spiritual cleanse. If you think this land is just filled with temples, you are up for a surprise. There are a lot of interesting things to do and watch here apart from the temples.

Day One


When you visit an important spiritual spot, Yoga centers in many places. When it comes to a Varanasi itinerary, the first element is Yoga. All you need is to spend a couple of hours for some relaxation. There are numerous centers along with accommodations.

After early morning Yoga, take a dip in the river Ganges. You might not be a follower of Hinduism, but the river water will be fresh and chill, which will refresh you. You can find a lot of people offering prayers in the ghats and children playing around. Take a stroll along the Ghats. You will find a lot of restaurants along the side where you can enjoy the delicacies of this land. Keep your eye open for any rituals.

If you find time, you can visit a few temples around here. Temples are inevitable in the Varanasi itinerary. You can find numerous temples within walking distance, no matter where you are in Varanasi.

By sunset, visit Dashashwamedh Ghat to watch interesting rituals that are conducted for the river. This is called Ganga aarti. Enjoy the Ganga Aarti of Varanasi by travelling through the Indian Panorama journey of the Maharaja Express train.

Day Two


Early sunrise cruise on the river Ganges is a relaxing and enchanting attraction. You can also find people performing early morning rituals on the banks of the river. You can find a lot of restaurants for buffet breakfast. Do not forget to enjoy their collection of cheese, cakes, and other delicacies.

Spend some time shopping near any temple. The best things to buy here are artwork, jewelry, clothing, divine showcase items, and others. Make sure to allocate a couple of hours in your Varanasi itinerary for shopping. By sunset, find a restaurant or hotel with a terrace and watch the commotion that happens during the evening rituals and other celebrations near Mansarovar Ghat.

Day Three


Now it is time to travel a little away from Varanasi. Visit Sarnath and enjoy the temples, parks, Buddhist monuments, and others. Dhammek Stupa is a historic monument to visit. Near this stupa, you would find the Sarnath museum, Mulagandha Kuti Vihar, and others. You can find a lot of relics evacuated from Sarnath in this museum. Another important attraction to visit is the Monkey Temple of the 18th century.

By afternoon, visit Kashi Vishwanath temple, Ramnagar Fort, and others for sightseeing. Spend the rest of the day enjoying some temples around you in Varanasi.
