Train History
The Maharajas' Express was started in March 2010 by Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC). 86 passengers were on-board on the inaugural run of the train. The train has won many awards for its hospitality and luxurious lifestyle, it won seven times “world travel awards” in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2018.
On-board Facilities
The train is equipped with magnificent attached bathrooms, spacious living rooms with wardrobe, dining car, lounge, 24-hour electricity facilities, WiFi connectivity, hairdryers, etc. The train also has an observatory car to allow passengers to enjoy the outlook of nature while they reach to their intriguing destinations. Lounge and Bar

The lounge car in Maharajas' Express is named as Rajah Club. It has an attached bar with a lot of time killing activities like table games, books to read. They have provided a panoramic window to allow passengers to enjoy the scenic beauty. The thematic bar is named as the “Safari Bar”. Both lounge and bar have a very exquisite interior and comfortable sitting arrangement and they also provide a good range of wines and spirits, allowing the passengers to untwine and enjoy the journey. Types of Cabins Onboard
The Maharajas' Express has kept everyone’s leisure in mind and designed 14 different kinds of guest cabins. The cabins in the Maharajas' Express are named after precious stones like diamond, pearl, blue sapphire and coral. There are 4 different kinds of cabins in the Maharajas' Express that are five deluxe, one Presidential, six junior and a general suite.
In the Presidential Suite, there are two bedrooms, a private bath and a private dining room available. The rooms are elegantly designed with beautiful semi-precious stones embellished across the wall. The rooms are spacious, equipped with vintage furniture. This suite is best if you are traveling with family.
In the Deluxe suite, there are twin cabins and double cabins and are equipped with basic luxury. They have a double or twin bed according to the cabin asked for, with a spacious wardrobe, writing table, air-conditioner, bathroom with cubicle shower and a writing table.
Junior Suites are with 12 twin beds and 6 double beds. They have attached bathroom, wardrobe, air conditioner, and they are also provided with the large panoramic window in the suite, to allow passengers to enjoy the scenic beauty.
In general suite cabin, there are 4 cabins with double beds, a writing table, a wardrobe, and a minibar are provided. They also have a large panoramic window to enjoy the outside viewing.
Dinning

The Maharajas' Express has two restaurants named Mayur Mahal and Rang Mahal beside the suite. They serve every type of food keeping everyone in mind. The dishes here are also served from various cuisines and are prepared by a proficient chef. The travelers can find here lactose free meal, lactose veg meal, Jain meal, vegan meal, gluten-free meal, kosher meal, vegetarian meal, and non-vegetarian meal. The meals here are lip-smacking and delectable for every diversity.
