General information on Golden Chariot

Are you planning for an elegant journey with Golden Chariot? You might need to know a little more about the train before starting your vacation plans.

Guest cabins

The train provides 44 cabins for tourists. 26 cabins have twin beds and 17 cabins have double bed. There is one cabin for passengers with physical disability. There are 11 guest carriages in the train which was decorated in a traditional style. The cabins are fitted with many amenities like TV, internet, en-suite bathroom, air conditioning and others.

Dining car

The train has two dining cars, Ruchi and Nala. Both the dining cars provide vegetarian and non-vegetarian cuisines. Each car has different decor with two seater and four seater sofas.

Bar and lounge

Madira, the lounge of Golden Chariot is the best spot for social drinkers who are looking for a night to relax. You can find many local and international brands of wines and spirits here.

Business Car

The business car has many facilities like TV, internet, fax, printer, seating arrangements for a conference and many others. this caters to all business travelers in the train.

Spa

The train has two massage rooms with are served by expert masseurs. The train provides signature therapies and rejuvenating massages. There is also a gym attached to the spa for working-out.

Accommodation before and after the tour

The Golden Chariot is not responsible for post and pre accommodation. It is better to book a hotel for one-day accommodation prior and after the tour. This will help you relax during the starting of the tour and after the tour.

Flight Tickets

The arrival and return flight tickets are not a part of the tariff. Our representatives will assist you regarding ticket booking, schedules and others. The train tours start and end in Bangalore, which has both international and domestic airport.

Travel Insurance

The luxury train has an overall insurance that covers damages caused by events like earthquake, terrorist attack, fire and others. It is essential for the tourists to hold a valid personal insurance from their country for injury, illness, accident, luggage loss, death and others.

Documents

All tourists should possess Indian visa and respective passport (foreign tourists), ID proof and confirmation receipt of ticket booking.

Add On Tour

You can opt for extension of tour by mentioning the same while filing the inquiry form. This includes the destinations that are not covered by the itinerary of Golden Chariot.

Dress Code

There is no specific dress code in the train. Given the luxury and elegance of the train, it is better to wear decent clothing throughout the trip. It is better to stick to comfortable walking shoes, as you might have to walk or wait for long during off-train excursions. Carry swimsuit if desired, as you will be visiting beaches in certain itineraries.

Special Food Requirements

Golden Chariot takes extra step in providing you a good dining experience. You can opt for any diet requirement like non-fat, vegan, gluten-free or others while filing the form for ticket. Any last minute request might be impossible to satisfy.

Porters

During boarding and de-boarding the train, porters are available to carry luggage for you.

Butler

Golden Chariot has a team of butlers who provide 24/7 service to all your needs. The butlers are trained and have good English speaking skill. Thus, there will be no gaps in communicating your needs.

Physically Challenged Tourists

Golden Chariot has taken the initiative in India to provide facilities for physically challenged guests. There is a special cabin for such tourists with facilities like crèches, special personal assistant, wheel chairs and others. Specify your needs during the time of booking to avoid last minute confusions.

Electricity

Electricity is available throughout your trip. 110/120 volt socks and adaptors are available in all cabins.

Off Train tours

Off-train tours are conducted at every destination. Tourists will be expected to walk for a long distance and wait in queues at certain points. Thus, light walking shoes are recommended. If travelling with children, bring adequate water and snacks with you. The off-train excursions will be conducted in an air-conditioned bus.

Guides

English speaking guides are available during excursions. You can also choose other language guides by paying an additional fee for the guides. The other language guide requirement should be mentioned during the time of ticket booking.

Smoking and Drinking

Drinking is allowed in the lounge area only for those over the drinking age according to Indian law. Smoking is prohibited in any part of the train and in public places during excursion.

Vaccination

No specific vaccination is required for entering India. If you are visiting from any yellow fever endemic country, you need to carry a certificate for yellow fever vaccination. If you are taking any medicine, it is better to stock for the whole trip. On-demand doctor is available in many destinations.

Laundry

Laundry service is an add-on service (not included in the tariff) available at different destinations. Thus, you can pack light for the journey.

Cellphones and calls

Please keep your cellphones in silent during excursions and in train other than your cabin. Use of laptops and phones should be restricted to your cabin. Network problems might occur when the train is travelling through rural areas. Telephones are provided in each cabin. Guest have to pay additional charges for using the telephone for making calls.

Gratuities

Paying gratuity is a part of Indian culture. It is not a compulsion to pay gratuity to the staffs. The cost of the ticket includes gratuity to the contact and non-contact staffs.

Staff Members

The Golden Chariot has a dedicated staff team. All the customer contact staffs are proficient in English language. The staffs are dedicated and customer-friendly.

Minimum passenger requirement

A minimum number of passengers is required for profitable journey and if the number is not met, the amount would be refunded or an alternative date will be provided.
