This can be called the 'Venice of the East' owing to the number of water canals. The sunset and sunrise reflects on the backwaters of God's own country. A houseboat ride close to the palms is an unforgettable ride through nature.

Summers and monsoons are not advisable as it is hot and humid in summer. There is too much of rain in the monsoon. Hence it is best to visit the beautiful town of Alappuzha in winter months during November to March. This is the best time to enjoy all the tourist spots.
The closest international Airport is the Cochin airport in Kerala which is 75 km from Alappuzha. There are cabs and taxis available from there. .
