Rann Utsav is a tourist festival organized by the Tourism Department of Gujarat to promote the uniqueness of the Rann of Kutch in winter. This festival lasts for three months, which means until winter ends. The most important attraction of the festival is experiencing the full moon days at the Rann of Kutch. During the winter, the salt marshy lands of Kutch remain with salt crystals look very authentic and mesmerizing.

And, this festival showcases the importance of arts and crafts. During the three months, every day will be special with different folk songs and dance performances. History of Rann Utsav


The history of Rann Utsav started in the year 2005. It means from 2005, this festival has been celebrated. From that day, Rann Utsav has been organized by the Tourism Department of Gujarat every year with grand celebrations.

They planned this festival to promote the natural beauty and landscapes of the Rann of Kutch to the entire nation and the world. From the day they started to today, Rann Utsav festival has gained huge popularity and craze all around the country and world with its immense celebrations and activities to do.

Venue of the Rann Utsav Fest


The Carnival of Rann Utsav venue is at Dhordo village, popularly known as “Tent City” in Kutch. Every year, the festival will take place here only. The Dhordo village is set up with nearly 400 Tents to stay.

Here, tourists can choose different tents according to their requirements. And here the available tent types are Premium tents, Deluxe AC Swiss tents, Non-AC Swiss tents, and Economy Non-AC Swiss tents. So, as per the tourist’s luxurious elements and amenities, they can select any one of them.
